Blog Give Away!

In an effort to MAKE myself get back to work (seems I've been goofing off in my gardens this spring, focusing on plans for the Maine Teddy Bear Show and just plain being lazy) I thought I'd host a blog give away. My very first here at the Back Road Bears studio!

I'm also taking this opportunity to introduce you to a new project I've been working on.... cloth annie dolls. I went with a sweet and simple design utilizing some of the really fun new and colorful fabrics in the local quilt shops! And by shear accident I happened to find the greatest yarn for doll hair! My annies have embroidered faces with painted eyes and freckles. At 9 inches tall these girls are small enough to be a great companion for a big teddy bear but not so small they'd go unnoticed!

Without further delay may I introduce to you "Sweet Jane"!

One lucky blog reader will win "Sweet Jane" on Sunday, May 31, 2009!

To enter: Simply join my email list by entering your email address in the box below. Then leave a comment to this blog post. (You must do both!) The winner will be selected at random on Sunday, May 31 at 5:00pm eastern and announced here. The winner will also receive a private email message.

Sweet Jane is so cute and a giveaway is exciting. You've made me want to try one of these dolls. I tried to sign up for your emails but it wouldn't let me. I'm guessing that so many people are trying to sign up for your giveaway that you've crashed the site. I'll keep trying.

Daphne your blog is a joy to read and I know what you mean about not making bears at the moment as I am at that point right now... taking a break from the mohair. Its nice to read that other bear artist go through this too. Sweet Jane makes me smile. She is in my favorite color blue. What a sweet creation! keep on doing what you are doing as you are very talented.
Hugs, Linda

Well Daphne, we all need a break at times, at the moment I'm feeling a little snowed under myself. At least you were still creating, and it sound like you were still vey busy! I tend to go right off and do NOTHING, then come back to it ready to rock. I've signed up to your mailing list, very interested in trying a show over there if I can get some workshops too! :) See you at the Black and White Ball next week!!!

I couldn't leave a comment when signing up so will leave one here instead:o)) Well done you! She is so pretty and I love the hair colour which goes so nicely with her dress. Doing something different is always a nice break from the mohair so I know what you are meaning.
Take care....Hugs Lyn

Sweet Jane, now there's a great name, how could I not join in.lol What a cute doll Sweet Jane is Daphne, you really do have that creative flair, but I know that already from seeing your lovely bears. The wool you have used on the doll's hair is just wonderful and compliments her dress, yep you've a winner there in my eyes. Will you be producing more of these cuties I wonder!

Big hugs, Jane.

I just love your Annie doll This is the kind of dolls I very first started making when I was young. Your Sweet Jane is just too cute I had been planing to make a few of the Annie dolls. The Idea of keeping them somewhat small is great. I hope you whon't get mad if I make mind small too.

Hi Daphne,
I see that you are at work creating things other than bears. I am working hard on preparing my stock for the Maine Show, and I hope it is as great as it was last year.
